St Joseph’s is a thriving, family-oriented, one-form-entry Catholic primary school, serving an area of rich cultural and social diversity. We are a committed, enthusiastic and friendly team, motivated by our aim to develop each person’s gifts in the spirit of the Gospel message, “To learn together and grow in God’s love”. Standards of attainment and progress are good, and we are doing well in meeting the needs of disadvantaged groups. We are only a short walk from the River Thames and the historic buildings of Greenwich. We are well served by public transport and have easy access to the Jubilee line and the DLR. This makes us an easy commute from most parts of London.

We are seeking a proactive teacher who will support the delivery of high quality teaching and learning and who will inspire our children to achieve their full potential. This would be an ideal opportunity for someone seeking their first primary teaching role; equally, the post would offer excellent opportunities for more experienced teachers who are looking to develop and enhance their professional expertise.

If you are excited by challenges, can work effectively as part of a team and are dedicated to making a tangible difference to the lives of the young people with whom you work, then this is an excellent opportunity for you. Regardless of what point you are at in your career and whatever your aspirations may be, our school can support you to achieve them.

The successful candidate will:

* Support the Catholic ethos of the school (you do not need to be a practising Catholic)

* Be a consistently good teacher with the potential to be outstanding

* Have a passion for teaching and learning

* Be committed to raising standards

What we offer:

* Competitive salary

* Excellent professional development opportunities

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment.  Any successful applicants will be required to undertake a Disclosure check by the Disclosure and Barring Service. We are unable to accept CV’s and the application form needs to be completed for you to be considered.

About St Joseph's Catholic Primary School

Located in Greenwich, London, St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School is a co-educational primary school. With around 200 pupils aged 4-11, it is smaller than the average school of its type, and draws its student intake from an extremely economically and culturally diverse area. A voluntary-aided school founded in the Catholic tradition, the school is located a stone’s throw from the River Thames and Greenwich Park.

Values and Vision

St Joseph’s draws much of its ethos from its Christian foundation. To this end, the school works hard to encourage students to feel a sense of community around the school, and to respect their peers. Taking great pride in its cultural diversity, the school also seeks to encourage students to be tolerant of all faiths and belief systems, as well as pushing them to work hard in their studies and show self-discipline and perseverance. The school works hard to meet and recognise the individual needs of every child, being as they are made in God’s image.

St Joseph's is a special place where we Learn Together and Grow in God's Love.

Aspiration - Compassion - Community - Faith - Respect - Responsibility

“Pupils achieve well and make good progress from their starting points. The school’s test results have improved over the last two years from being below average to significantly above average. Pupils are encouraged to read widely and regularly. Teaching and learning are good and some teaching is outstanding. Pupils are mostly provided with the right level of challenge.”
