Agnew School is seeking to appoint a dedicated educator in the role of Primary Teacher at our Maryborough campus. This role is permanent, full-time, and available to start on 15 January 2018.

The Position 

This role, reporting directly to the Head of Campus, has responsibility for teaching our primary school students across grades 3 to 6. In this role, you will be required to prepare all daily lessons and unit plans of work, plan collaboratively with subject teaching teams across our four campuses, evaluate and report on the progress of students and discuss individual performance with their parents, and coordinate the activities of the teacher aide/s.

The ideal candidate will be a team player, have a genuine love of teaching, possess a "can do" attitude and ability to be flexible within a dynamic workplace environment. 

We are looking for someone who has a growth mindset, who enjoys the exploration of new ways of teaching, and who has the ability to understand and implement the concept of self-directed learning. The person must embrace a collaborative approach to the planning and delivery of the curriculum.

As the school has a strong faith based approach to life and learning, the successful applicant will also need to be able to respect and support this aspect of the lives of the students.

The successful candidate will have primary teaching experience and will hold relevant qualifications and a current teacher registration certificate with the Queensland College of Teachers.

Facilities 

The school operates across four campuses at Brisbane, Maryborough, Nambor, Toowoomba. Facilities include well equipped science laboratories, technical workshops, music rooms, home economics practical areas, computer laboratories, libraries and recreation areas.

Curriculum 

Agnew School follows the Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA) and Independent School Queensland (ISQ) Curriculum Guidelines – aiming to provide opportunities for students with varied abilities. Generally, students complete their early primary years in a government school, then begin at Agnew in Year 3. Classes are small and mixed, with students regularly assessed and tracked using national literacy and numeracy standards. There is a big focus on new technology with video conferencing used as a regular teaching medium between schools nationally and internationally. Students are also encouraged to take part in a range of sporting activities and excursions.
