International Baccalaureate - Primary Years Programme

Salary: Dependent on experience and North Carolina Salary Schedule for teachers

Contract Term: I year renewal contract ( up to 3 years)

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic primary teacher interested in having an international teaching experience in the United States.

As the first International Baccalaureate/Primary Years Programme (students aged 5-10 years) in North Carolina, Farmington Woods Magnet Elementary connects students to the North Carolina Standard Course of Study through a focus on the development of international mindedness and building student inquiry while preparing students to be leaders and life-long learners.

Students at Farmington Woods develop important 21st-century skills through learning experiences that enhance the development of their creativity, collaboration, communication and critical thinking skills. The IB Framework encompasses trans-disciplinary learning across all areas of learning. Teachers collaborate to build learning experiences that foster cultural understanding and global connections. Through the curriculum content, students have opportunities to learn Spanish and/or Mandarin language. Further, students learn the importance of taking action to make a difference for someone else locally or globally.

All international candidates are required to apply directly with our partner, Participate. Participate has been an official U.S. Department of State Exchange Visitor Program for more than 30 years and has helped more than 10,000 international educators have the experience of being a full-time teacher in the U.S. Participate is designated to screen, provide visa sponsorship and support participants throughout their stay in the United States, in conjunction with their host school. Candidates must first pass Participate's screening in order to be considered for this position.

• Full-time, full-year position
• Willing to commit to a minimum of 2 years, with a maximum stay of 5 years

Minimum requirements:

2 years of full-time teaching experience in Primary Schools (2 years by July 2019)

Bachelor of Education or combination of a Bachelor's degree with a Postgraduate Certificate or Degree in Primary Education with QTS

Currently teaching full-time

Hold a driver's license and have at least one years’ experience of driving a car

Non-US citizen or permanent resident
