Holy Mary British Catholic School started as a Nursery School here in Madrid through the vision of its founders, Marta and María Riva de Aldama. It was opened to cater for parents who wished their children to have a British style education based on Catholic values. It expanded due to great demand from parents and continued to provide education as a Primary School. Further pressure from parents resulted in the opening of the Secondary School. Currently, we are the only British Catholic School towards the centre of Madrid with around 640 students enrolled from Nursery to Year 13. We are a committed member of NABSS, CISC and ACADE.
Holy Mary British Catholic School has four more years of expansion and continuous school improvement to plan. Our curriculum is creative and inclusive, and we count on fantastic teachers and children, together with highly supportive parents. The school promotes a warm, family, atmosphere, and we are seeking to recruit outstanding, inspirational class teachers to join our team of dedicated, talented, and enthusiastic professionals.
Suitable candidates will have:
- At least 2 years teaching experience within KS1 or KS2
- British or EU citizenship (we will assist to acquire any necessary visas)
- A strength within the use of iwbs and information technology
- Qualified teacher status
- A commitment towards the safeguarding of all young people
- A curiosity towards and proactive tolerance of difference and change
Applicants should have:
- A flexible willingness to work within either KS1 or KS2
- The ability to inspire young people
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- An excellence as a classroom practitioner who is caring, enthusiastic and committed
- High expectations of the achievement and behaviour of all children
- Good organizational and administrative skills
- A diligent work ethic
- An awareness of the research findings of John Hattie and Carol Dweck
- A supportive attitude towards our Catholic ethos
