Job overview

Stepping Stones is an independent special school with charitable status.  We currently make provision for 95 children aged 7-19 years, with a range of mild disabilities including acute or chronic medical conditions, a range of mild physical disabilities and young people whose mental and/or emotional health is at risk.

We work to ensure that our students embrace a positive school environment to become self-confident, independent learners for life.  With the aim that each will fulfil their personal potential to gain the qualifications and skills that they need to be socially and economically independent in their local community.

We are looking for a Primary teacher to work with students to teach a thematic curriculum in form based classes at our Lower School site.  Located in an old church, it provides a welcoming and homely feel to students with excellent facilities.  In addition, the students access the Upper School across the road at our Undershaw site for specialist lessons and swimming.  Class sizes are on average eight students with teaching assistant support in every class.  You will join a small team and have the opportunity to contribute to the development of the curriculum through the school.

Stepping Stones School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate job offer will be subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.
