Job overview

Whetley Academy are looking to appoint a Primary Teacher to join our academy in September 2024 on a full time temporary basis.

Salary: MPR / UPR (£30,000 to £46,525)

Whetley Academy is a dynamic and forward thinking three form entry school where staff and children are supported and encouraged to reach their full potential. We serve a vibrant, diverse community with families from different ethnic backgrounds. Our children are proud to be at Whetley and we celebrate the many cultures and ethnicities we have. Students are respectful and caring towards their peers and adults.

Our recent Ofsted report continues to grade us as a ‘Good’ School, (Sept 23), with the report stating 'Pupils play and learn harmoniously.'

As a larger than average Primary Academy with approximately 500 pupils on roll, spanning from a 2 year old provision (Little Acorns) through to KS2. Located in the Girlington area of Bradford, our historic site has been serving the community since 1875, undergoing several updates to provide excellent classroom and playground facilities while preserving the history of our original buildings. We are fortunate to have multiple impressive murals painted throughout the Academy, making for an inspiring learning environment for pupils and staff alike.

Whetley Academy is continuing to improve in its approach to teaching and learning. Our recent Ofsted report commented that, 'Senior leaders have made curriculum development a priority. Subject leaders, alongside leaders in the trust, have created an engaging curriculum that precisely sets out what pupils should learn and when. Teachers speak highly about the training and coaching that they receive. This supports them to understand and teach the curriculum well.'

Pupils’ personal development is woven through the curriculum. Pupils learn about the lives and achievements of people from a range of backgrounds and ethnicities. They have a deep knowledge of different cultures and religions. They learn to be respectful, tolerant and fair with each other. Leaders are aspirational for all pupils and promote understanding of future career opportunities effectively. They are determined to ensure that pupils are well prepared for future life.

Our data shows that children make accelerated progress even when they join us after EYFS. Collaborative opportunities with colleagues in other Delta schools and access to high quality CPD are available to support your career development. We work closely with the local community and offering parent classes as well as a community Pantry for all to benefit from.

We offer an extensive range of opportunities, incentives and benefits with this post including:

Whetley Academy is a dynamic and forward thinking three form entry school where staff and children are supported and encouraged to reach their full potential. We serve a vibrant, diverse community with families from different ethnic backgrounds. Most of our children have English as an additional language or are new to English. Mobility is higher than average which means we regularly have children who join us later in school having no prior school experience and little or no English. Staff work extremely hard to provide a tailored curriculum meeting the needs of all children. Children are taught a wide and language rich curriculum enabling them to learn and apply new skills and knowledge in order to achieve highly.

The ethos in school is one of positivity and openness and staff discuss and support each other in order to raise standards and improve outcomes for all pupils. This dialogue and CPD provides opportunities to accelerate pupil’s learning and to develop staff.

Stakeholders work hard to support school in our drive to achieve and we pride ourselves on working alongside families and the community so that children feel supported in all areas of their lives, making for happy and contented children who are ready to learn and succeed.

There are opportunities to work with colleagues in other Delta schools and you will have access to high quality CPD in order to further your career in teaching. We work closely with the local community and invite local community leaders to work alongside us to continue these important links.
