Applications are invited from suitably qualified teachers for the following position:

FULL TIME TEMPORARY TEACHER

Stage 1 Class for the 2020 school year

Applicants must:

  • Have a commitment to the practice of the Catholic faith and appropriate
  • Religious Education qualifications;
  • Have a knowledge of and commitment to the Catholic ethos and mission of the school;
  • Have an understanding of contemporary pedagogy and the ability to differentiate and provide for a diverse range of ability;
  • Have effective classroom practice that fosters independent learners;
  • Be willing to work co-operatively and contribute positively as part of a professional learning community;
  • Be able to creatively use ICT to enhance a rich learning environment;
  • Be willing to meet the requirements of the Diocese Work Teach and Lead document
  • Be willing to teach any class level from K-6;
  • A current NSW Working with Children check
  • NESA Accreditation

Please nominate three (3) referees, one of whom is the Parish Priest from your usual place of worship.

St James Primary School is a mixed, independent, mainstream, Roman Catholic primary school in Yamba, New South Wales. It caters for students from Years 1 to 6. 

St James Primary School was founded by Paul Edgar in 1997 when the need for a Catholic school in Yamba was voiced, with land donated by the Dougherty Bros. It has a fully integrated sustainability and environmental education programme for its students called Kids Grow.

All classrooms are well-equipped with the latest technology, including interactive whiteboards. Classes are kept small to ensure every child gets one-on-one attention as they learn. The school also offers an enrichment programme that helps students with additional needs. In addition, there is a parish school forum for parents to interact with school decisions. 

Curriculum

The curriculum at St James Primary School is based on Catholic ideals. They seek to teach children to be active learners and to not be afraid of challenges. They want them to love the art of learning, becoming ‘the best learner they can be’. While the curriculum prioritises literacy and numeracy, the school believes personal interactions and understanding the importance of team work, trust and inclusivity is just as vital. This is portrayed through their love of the arts, from their primary choir to their Dance Fever and sporting events. Sustainability and environmental education is promoted through Kids Grow where students engage in purposeful gardening.
