Primary Vice Principal for Learning and Teaching
The Kuala Lumpur Alice Smith School (KLASS) is fully accredited as a British School Overseas by the Department for Education in London, receiving an ‘Outstanding’ grade in its last inspection. Our school has an established reputation for excellence, and as a not-for-profit educational foundation, all resources are focused on the development and well-being of students. Located on two sites in Kuala Lumpur with excellent facilities, it has a total student population of approximately 1,600 and caters for the full age range from 3 to 18 years.

The Vice Principal for Learning and Teaching is a member of the Primary Leadership Team, sitting alongside the Vice Principal for Students, the Vice Principal for Staff, the Vice Principal for Achievement and Progression and the Primary Principal. The Vice Principal for Learning and Teaching will lead our own ‘KLASS Curriculum’ that was shortlisted for its creative, cross curricular and inquiry approach in the TES awards in 2018. The successful applicant will also work as part of the broader Whole School Leadership Team towards school improvement and will contribute to the strategic direction of the school through close collaboration with the Principals, Head of School and the Council of Governors.
This vacancy would suit an experienced senior leader and teacher with an excellent knowledge of curriculum, and a passion for an inquiry based and cross curricular approach to learning. An interest and/or experience leading sustainable projects is an advantage. They will have experience in creating and leading strong teams that have had a positive impact on learning, teaching and student achievement.
Exceptional interpersonal and organisational skills are essential for this role. Applicants should also have an in-depth knowledge of recent educational initiatives, excellent understanding of pedagogy and learning environments, the capacity to influence change and an understanding of best practice in learning and teaching. Drive, energy, enthusiasm and a strong commitment to staff development and to the wider education of students through co-curricular activities are also required.
