Job overview

Principal - Abbey College Cambridge

Located on land owned by Homerton College, one of the thirty-one Cambridge University colleges, Abbey College Cambridge is a hugely successful international boarding school for over 400 girls and boys aged 14 to 19 years old.

Abbey College is part of a family of three boarding schools which can trace their origins back to 1931 when DLD College was founded. DLD then acquired the Abbey Colleges to form the Abbey DLD Group. Abbey College Cambridge was founded as an independent Sixth Form College in 1994 and has since grown and developed, establishing itself as a leading academic institution with excellent, purpose-built facilities and a warm boarding community.

Following the appointment of Dr Julian Davies to another Principal position in Cambridge from January 2023, after 25 years of outstanding service to the Alpha Plus Group and 20 years as Principal, the Group is now seeking to appoint an inspirational leader who can make a real impact in the continuing development of the College over the next decade.

Abbey College Cambridge is a member of the Alpha Plus Group. Alpha Plus is a premium private education provider which aims to deliver the gold standard in education. The mission of the Group is to give the best possible start in life to every student in their care. Alpha Plus owns 19 schools in the UK and one in New York, all of which have shared aims and values whilst maintaining their own distinctive ethos.
