The Governing Body of Al Shohub School is seeking to recruit a dynamic and inspirational Headmistress who can lead the school successfully from good to outstanding.

Al Shohub School (www.alshohub.org) is located in Abu Dhabi, the capital city of the United Arab Emirates. It is a well-established British school, catering at present for a mainly local clientele. Within cultural parameters, we deliver the National Curriculum of England & Wales to pupils aged from three to eighteen years (girls only Year 5+).

Our ideal candidate will be a highly-qualified, skilled and inspirational leader who shares our commitment to developing the potential of every child. She will be highly motivated, have great interpersonal skills and the drive and personality to play a key role in moving the school from good to outstanding.

The successful candidate will bring to the school a strong track record of success, a thorough understanding of best educational practice and a ‘whole-school’ approach to working. She will have a Masters degree, EdD or PhD in Education, at least 8 years’ experience of teaching at secondary school level, in addition to recent management experience as either a Head or Deputy, in a UK school or a reputable British international school. Experience of teaching in an international setting would be beneficial. The applicant must also have a sound understanding of the National Curriculum of England & Wales at all levels and a commitment to playing a key role in a multi-cultural school community, which prioritises sensitivity to and respect for the local culture and environment.

The successful applicant will lead the school to secure a well-rounded education for all pupils, ensuring sustained improvement in standards of learning and achievement, as well as promoting the mission and vision of the school.
