The Institution:

With state-of the-art facilities and excellent support services, the Institute of Applied Technology (IAT) offers career-based technical education at the secondary and tertiary levels. IAT’s aim is to meet the industrial and technical challenges and requirements that will allow UAE national students to move on to higher education and pursue their careers in the higher technologies.

The teaching medium and mode of communication across the organization is English.

The Position:

The IAT is seeking high School Principal to provide high quality leadership to the teaching team at an IAT site. The Principal is responsible for the management of the school ensuring its efficient operation and delivery of high quality education to the students. The Principal supervises the VP Academic, VP Administration but has ultimate responsibility for the employees within the school. The Principal works with the Director of HSS and the Directorate services to ensure quality of education.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Masters or preferably Ph.D.in Science subject (Physics, Chemistry or Biology) or engineering subject (Electrical or Mechanical).
  • Substantial experience in school administration at either the vice principal or principal level.
  • Evidence of progressive career experience in an academic setting.
  • Experience in advising or mentoring desirable

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develops and implements an annual school improvement plan aligned to the goals and aims of IAT High Schools.
  • Supports the development and implementation of IAT High Schools initiatives to enhance learning and the attainment of educational outcomes.
  • Participates in the establishment of the school’s budget and ensures that it is effectively used and controlled.
  • Manages the school’s facilities including the effective use of space throughout the school.
  • Ensures the effective management of school resources.
  • Identifies issues within both the academic and non-academic functions of the school and initiates action for their resolution.
  • Implements and enforces a code of conduct for student behavior.
  • Communicates with the parents and the local community to ensure awareness and support for the school’s activities.
  • Implements a performance appraisal system that includes teacher growth plans to incorporate staff development.

Applied Technology High School - Abu Dhabi Male is a secondary school for boys aged 13-18. It is based in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates. 

The school provides a Science and Mathematics curriculum with the aim of creating scientists, engineers and technologists needed to meet the needs of the  economy of the United Arab Emirates.

Applied Technology High School - Abu Dhabi Male aims to provide a career-based technical education for its students. The school wishes to embrace technology. It has affirmed that it wishes for its students to be able to take advantage of technology in the form of iPads and iBooks. Students are also given the opportunity to watch podcasts of professionals in the work place, or explanations about specific topics. In addition, through its Learning Resource Centre, the school aims to provide students with access to resources and up-to-date information in both print and electronic format. The school’s Learning Resource Centre is intended to be a student-centred, dynamic learning hub, which provides the means to transform the students’ learning experience from a conventional one into an interactive, autonomous, one-to-one learning experience. Information Literacy sessions are also provided for students with the aim of developing their critical thinking skills and their ability to conduct research in a thorough manner. Overall, the school aims to offer a distinctive educational experience that integrates career and technical education and that has a rigorous academic core.
