Job overview

Are you an exceptional leader looking for the opportunity to take on a unique, career-defining role that involves combining the leadership of a school with executive support for an Academy?

Then the Wellsway Multi Academy Trust has the ideal opportunity for you.

Situated in a large, semi-rural setting in Keynsham, and with great transport links, Wellsway School is a successful 11-18 mixed comprehensive that shares a site with the IKB Academy - a purpose built 14-19 STEM studio school with excellent state-of-the-art facilities. Both are part of the well-established Wellsway Multi Academy Trust that runs 13 schools across the West of England.

Right now, we are seeking an outstanding school leader who’s looking to further their strategic leadership experience by combining the role of principal with that of an executive leader. Join us and, as part of the wider trust leadership team, you will be encouraged not only to contribute to school improvement work across the trust, but also work closely with the two primary phase schools that share our large and thriving campus.

This truly is a rare chance to take on a role with a unique portfolio that will enable you to broaden your leadership experience while retaining a substantive principal role. Accordingly, you will need an impressive track record to date and a genuine desire to help shape the future of our schools and their students

In return we’ll offer you:

  • A competitive salary plus excellent benefits package.
  • An energised and professional working environment.
  • The chance to work with a supportive team from whom you can learn, develop and grow.
  • A full and varied CPD programme offering teaching and leadership development.
  • Wider opportunities to be involved across our multi-academy trust.

The benefits on offer include a pension scheme, discounted sports centre/gym membership, free wellbeing support & medical cover, free on-site parking and a cycle to work scheme.

Values and vision

Wellsway School is dedicated to supporting and encouraging its students, giving them the tools and confidence to explore what life and the world have to offer. The secondary school believes that the years its students spend there are the foundation on which they build their futures. It strives to deliver an education that is world class in every respect.

As well as being rigorous and demanding, inspiring and challenging, learning should also be fun, so Wellsway School aims to be a place where the activities, teaching and facilities foster enthusiasm, enjoyment and strong relationships. Happiness and success are closely related, and the secondary school has a culture that is strong on challenge but also strong on support.

Ofsted report

“The quality of teaching is good and some is outstanding. Teachers show great enthusiasm for their subject and, in most lessons, capture students’ interests well with exciting and demanding activities. The headteacher, key leaders, managers and the governing body are working successfully as a strong team on improving the school and pushing forward the school’s ambitious vision for its students and the local community. The sixth form is good. Students do well in their examinations and make good progress.”
