JOB PURPOSE

The Principal of Australian International School Malaysia (AISM) manages the business and operations of the school and leads the school in delivering high quality education in achieving its purpose, mission and business goals.

The Principal is responsible for the academic leadership and operational management of the School and is accountable to the Board of Governor's for delivering the highest standard of education and ensuring financial viability of the school. 

The Principal will also be responsible to oversee the Middle and Senior Schools (MSS), encompassing strategic development and effective operations of the MSS, the teaching and learning outcomes of the MSS students and the professional development of members of the MSS staff.


KEY RESULTS AREAS/ RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This position reports to the President of Taylor’s Schools.
  • As such, the Principal will work with the President of Taylor’s Schools on the Strategic Planning and Development of the school in alignment with the priorities of AISM.
  • Leadership of the Heads of Schools, all academic staff, and the support team under him / her.
  • Articulate and enhance AISM’s educational aims, ensuring that the school is providing an exceptional experience for the students, and that the balance is achieved between academics, the arts, sporting activities, etc.
  • Provide guidance and direction to both the academic and activities programmes.
  • Ensure continuity and progression across all aspects of the educational programmes in the different sub-schools that constitute AISM, in specific, oversee the academic, pastoral and tertiary pathway outcomes of MSS students (Year 6 to Year 12).
  • Maintain and develop AISM’s reputation for academic excellence, cherishing its special culture while, at the same time, ensuring that it continues to grow and evolve as a holistic, innovative and dynamic learning environment.
  • Drive the Student Acquisition process of the school with passion and a focus on excellence in service that grows the number of students.
  • Collaborate and build high performing teams, and be able to inspire, motivate and develop sustainable relationships with all members of the school community.
  • Sound business acumen with the ability to manage financial budgets with astuteness.
  • Build effective relationships and excellent communications with the various constituent groups which make up the School community – the students, staff, parents, alumni, and the local community.
  • Ensure smooth and efficient operation of the School.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 15 years’ of relevant work experience with at least 8 years’ experience as a school leader preferably in a medium to large international school based on the Australian or a similar curriculum school at the Principal/ Headmaster level
  • Strong academic credentials including but not limited to knowledge of curriculum, instructional practice, student learning styles, innovative educational practices and student assessment.
  • Strong collaborative management style, and ability to develop and participate effectively in teams.
  • Strong academic leadership skills and a deep commitment to improve the quality of international education. Ability to create and communicate a clear and compelling view for the future of the school.
  • Awareness of the challenges facing a private International school in an increasingly competitive market.

  • Enrolment and retention of students in school and optimum utilisation of school facilities. 
  • Customer satisfaction with the delivery of education offered. 
  • Achievement of profit and revenue targets. 
  • Meeting the quality and performance standards set for schools.
