Job overview

Birmingham Ormiston Academy (BOA) is one of the most successful state-funded academies in the country.  We specialise in creative, digital and performing arts for students aged 14 to 19.  Our intake is 100% selective, based on aptitude within the specialism rather than academic ability.   As a result, we are unique in our admissions.   Student results speak for themselves and are well above national average.

Located in the centre of Birmingham and within the hub of the digital and creative industries in the West Midlands, we benefit from superb facilities for academic, vocational and extra-curricular activities.  We are part of the BOA Group, a trust which includes other subsidiaries including The Old Rep Theatre.  The trust has now been given approval to open two brand new academies; BOA Digital and BOA Stage & Screen. The CEO, Gaynor Cheshire, works across the trust (both the MAT and subsidiary companies). The current Principal of BOA, John Reilly, is retiring in August 2020 and as a result, we are now looking for an exceptional individual to lead BOA on the next stage of its journey.

You may be a Deputy aspiring to such a role, or an existing Principal/Headteacher.  Either way, you will have a track record of successful leadership.  You will be ambitious and student focused with a commitment to ensuring the best possible academic outcomes for our young people.  You will be passionate about the arts and understand how they release the potential in young people and raise aspiration.  This is a rare opportunity to lead one of the country’s most successful vocational schools.

Closing date: Noon on Monday 18th November.

Interviews will be held on 4th & 5th December.

Birmingham Ormiston Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people. All appointments are subject to satisfactory references and an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.
