This is a unique opportunity for an aspiring and experienced deputy head to step up to first-time principal headship in an ambitious Free School.

Established in 1920, Langdale has long been the best academic primary/prep school in our area, became the first free school in Blackpool in 2013, and intends to become the best primary free school in the UK within 2-3 years and to double its size in 3-4 years. And we have the strategy, drive and resources to deploy global best practice to achieve this.

Our current Principal is retiring so it is a natural time for us to invest in a new, ambitious leader to drive this next exciting consolidation and expansion phase of our development.

We are looking for a truly first-class school leader of the highest calibre. You will have a well-considered and highly developed educational philosophy. Crucially, you will be open-minded and a critical thinker capable of selecting, building the case for and adapting global best practice to our unique environment.

You will be outcome-driven with a proven record of success, possessing natural gravitas and commercial acumen.  Your leadership, communication and interpersonal skills will ensure that you build strong individual relationships and a robust esprit de corp between staff, students, partners and parents alike, and that you carry your team and stakeholders with you. And your organisational and process management skills will be exemplary.

In terms of character, you will have confidence commensurate with your experience and capabilities, the wisdom to understand that greater, more challenging and rewarding opportunities still lie ahead, and the energy and commitment to grasp the nettle and meet these challenges with verve and vigour.

Experience in leadership roles in first-class/outstanding educational settings is essential, as is deep knowledge of recent and continuing developments in the education scene. Some independent sector experience is desirable, although not essential.
