Job overview
Due to the current post holder taking retirement at the end of the school year, the Governors are seeking a new Principal to provide inspiring, professional and purposeful leadership for the school and college. Someone who will continue to secure its success and improvement, ensuring high quality education and residential care for all its pupils and, high standards of learning and achievement.
In the last two years we have received an outstanding Ofsted report for our care, a good Ofsted report for our education and we have opened a new specialist service for deaf children with additional and complex needs.
The successful applicant will be a qualified teacher, ideally a Teacher of the Deaf or other SEN qualifications, with recent experience in senior management within a special needs provision environment. Additionally, they will have experience as a designated person for Child Protection and Safeguarding.
The successful applicant will also have significant and proven experience and success in managing and inspiring multi-disciplinary staff teams.

Hamilton Lodge School is a Non-Maintained Special School for deaf children with residential facilities, and is situated in Brighton within 10 minutes walk to the sea and 20 minutes to the town centre. We cater for pupils aged between 5 and 18 years old and have a Child Centered Approach to communication using English and BSL.
The school has been commended for its quality of care and offers pupils the opportunity to reach their potential through at all times maintaining a positive approach, removing barriers to communication, providing good role models and celebrating achievement. Pupils are taught in small groups and all full-time teaching staff are trained as qualified Teachers of the Deaf.
Hamilton Lodge School teaches each one of its pupils to:
