Job overview

Trinity Academy Grammar

Principal

Leadership L28 - L34 (£91,633 - £106,138)

Trinity Academy Grammar is an ambitious and inclusive 11-16 school in Sowerby Bridge, West Yorkshire.  The school is now consistently oversubscribed and at the start of the new academic year, will have over 1000 students on roll; having grown this number from 650 when we became part of the Trinity Multi-Academy Trust.  As our school grows so do we, and we are now seeking to appoint an exceptional Principal to be part of that growth and to strategically lead Trinity Academy Grammar.

Since joining Trinity MAT in 2018 there have since been significant improvements in outcomes, meaning the academy can now be recognised as one of the most improved schools in the country.  Aspirations and ambitions are high; however, the school is determined not to rest on its laurels and is continually striving for ways to better serve the students.  The new Principal will be key to this future success.

The school is committed to providing an outstanding education for its students and is guided by the core values of Empathy, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility, which permeate every aspect of school life.  This is a fantastic opportunity for a high-performing individual with the strategic vision to further raise standards of student attainment and achievement across the academy.

Trinity MAT is a high performing and successful cross-phase Trust.  The Trust also collaborates extensively with schools across the country through the Trinity Institute of Education,  West Yorkshire Maths Hub and White Rose Maths initiatives.  Each of the Trusts’ secondary schools consistently achieve academic results which place them in the top 10% of schools nationally. Our ambitions are high but the support to the academy from the Trust match this.  You will be working closely with an Executive Principal who is an experienced school leader.  Alongside this you will have the full support of our world class central support team.  This includes dedicated IT, HR, Finance and Compliance teams who are at the end of the phone whenever the need arises.

If you have a proven track record at a senior leadership level, with the vision to drive the strategic direction and development of the academy on its journey to outstanding, this role offers an outstanding opportunity to play a key role in the Trinity Academy Grammar story.  You must be fully committed to optimising the opportunities that are available to children and young people secure in the knowledge that you will be joining an ambitious forward-thinking Academy Trust.  The successful candidate must be passionate about improving students’ life chances through the provision of the highest quality of education and committed to achieving excellent results for the students.  You must have a strong work ethic, high expectations of yourself and others and have the ability to lead staff and students in realising those expectations.

The Trinity MAT were first approached to work with the then Sowerby Bridge High School, when it had been graded as inadequate by Ofsted and had been ranked in the bottom 15% of all schools nationally.

After joining the MAT in 2018 the progress made has been outstanding. The academy has improved its Progress 8 outcome by 0.92 and the performance puts us comfortably in the top 1% of most improved schools in the country.

In September 2021 we will be adopting the new name of Trinity Academy Grammar to better communicate our identity, high standards and aspirations for our students. We have chosen a name which truly reflects our grammar school heritage, and to better showcase our core values of Empathy, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility, as we continue to build on this legacy through our outstanding achievements and passion to help our students reach their full potential.

It is a very exciting time to be considering joining Trinity Academy Grammar.  We can offer candidates the opportunity to work in partnership with the Principal and the senior leadership team, teachers in the school and other professionals across the trust (including the Teaching School and West Yorkshire Maths Hub).

The working environment is supported by committed, hardworking and supportive colleagues who are focused on improving outcomes for our students. Comprehensive pastoral systems are embedded to ensure the behaviour of students is outstanding and they are happy and supported in their learning.

As an academy we have high expectations of staff, we expect staff to challenge our students and themselves. We set high standards and aim to display these in all that we do. Working for Trinity Academy Sowerby Bridge is rewarding, we can offer a fantastic environment, excellent CPD programmes and a range of opportunities to progress. These ambitions are shared across all schools within the trust.
