Colchester Academy is looking for a passionate, enthusiastic and driven Principal to lead its thriving team. This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to help shape and implement the vision that will build on the recent improvements in outcomes, learning and reputation. The Principal will be responsible to the Regional Executive Principal and will have a passion for learning and is excited by challenge and opportunity. 

Colchester Academy is a secondary school located in the heart of Colchester, Essex, boasting one of the highest progress scores in the area, from the 2017 summer outcomes and recently graded ‘GOOD’ by OFSTED (2018). The inspection report highlighted that:  

• Relationships between pupils and teachers are strong and help pupils to learn well.  

• Pupils are polite and courteous. Most pupils take pride in their work and wear their uniform with pride.  

• The behaviour of pupils is good and pupils feel safe at this school  

We are looking to appoint an excellent communicator who inspires others and has ambition to lead the school towards ‘outstanding’.  

This is a unique opportunity to work within Bright Tribe Trust, a multi‐academy trust that brings together expertise from across the educational field. There are two primary schools, one infant school and one other secondary school within the Eastern region who work together to share expertise and skills. For the right person, this is an opportunity to really make a mark as a Principal and would suit an experienced deputy or existing headteacher.

Colchester Academy first opened in September 2010 and boasts a state of the art building with modern design and a wealth of technology. We are now part of local Academy Chain, Penrose Learning Trust and this is an incredibly exciting time for us.
