Job overview

Required for August 20, 2016 (or nearest possible date after this)

Established in 1922, the American Academy is a private co-educational school with more than 340 students aged between six and 18 years. Children and young people from all cultural backgrounds make this a truly international school with a distinctive commitment to education and care.

Within this supportive learning environment, we encourage every student to reach their full potential. We aim to help them develop the personal qualities which will make them responsible, thinking and caring adults, set within the context of Christian faith and practice. Teaching is in English and our courses lead to a recognised High School Diploma, GCSE, A level and LCCI qualifications.

We are now seeking an ambitious individual to build on the school’s rich history and lead it into an outstanding future that’s underpinned by a strong Christian philosophy. This challenging and rewarding role will see you devise a strategy to drive future growth, set goals and steer a clear path to achieving them. As well as expanding the curriculum, you will support and develop staff to provide exceptional teaching and learning to meet every student’s individual needs.

Substantial teaching and management experience gained in a secondary British curriculum setting is essential, combined with an understanding  of – and a real commitment to - Christian education. Equally important, you should be a motivational leader and communicator; you can inspire everyone around you with your vision as you shape a culture based on co-operation, collaboration and shared goals.

The initial contract is for three years, which is renewable. An excellent benefits package includes subsidised pension and medical scheme, relocation expenses, accommodation, transport and return annual flight to your country of origin. Salary is equivalent to €55,000.
