Polam Hall School is a, 4-18 academy located in Darlington, in the North East of England. Originally an independent day and boarding school with Quaker origins. Polam Hall opened in 1848, and in 2015, converted to become a free school. Polam Hall is now due to join Woodard Academies Trust on 1 April 2017. Woodard Academies Trust is a developing national multi-academy trust with five schools currently.

The new Principal will join Polam Hall at an exciting but crucial moment in its journey, and at Woodard Academies Trust we are looking for someone who will be a passionate and committed ambassador for the school and our wider Trust, as well as an exceptional leader with track record of success in securing positive outcomes for young people. You will have a relentless drive to ensure that outstanding teaching and learning is delivered, as well as the ability to motivate, galvanize and inspire staff and pupils alike as we embark on this exciting journey together.

In return, you’ll join a friendly school with a genuine family feel, who’s core values of building creativity, confidence and compassion in pupils is at the heart of everything staff do. Strategically, you will be joining the school, and Woodard Academies Trust in the early stages of the development of its Northern Hub and will have the opportunity to work with colleagues both locally and nationally to grow this in the future. You will also have the pleasure of leading a school lucky enough to be situated in large, picturesque grounds, with a mix of both new and old buildings, as well as excellent facilities catering for academic and extra curricula pursuits for pupils across the school to enjoy.

Polam Hall School is a 4 – 16 all-through academy and is part of Woodard Academies Trust. We have 790 pupils on roll, with one and a half forms of entry in our Primary Phase and four forms in our Secondary Phase. Polam Hall is a school with a unique and long history which today is proud to be a fully comprehensive school serving the young people of Darlington.
