Job overview

An able, enterprising and versatile graduate teacher is sought to become the founding Head of the London Academy of Excellence Tottenham (LAET), a selective Free School sixth form to open in September 2017. Highgate School as principal educational sponsor and Tottenham Football Club as lead business sponsor invite applications for this exciting post for January 2017.

The Profile of the Head

The successful applicant will have a good honours degree, a track-record of successful teaching, and significant leadership experience, for example as an Assistant or Deputy Head; he or she will be adept at working in a team and communicating with students, staff, parents and those institutions that pupils come from and progress to. The Head will be able to lead a new institution with vision and authority.

The Head will be energetic in establishing the outstanding reputation of a brand new school and communicating this in both the local community and the wider educational world. It is essential that the Head leads by example, undertaking a limited teaching timetable.

It is envisaged that the Principal Designate (the Head's title in Year 0) will take up the appointment in January 2017, thereby having two terms to recruit staff, begin to develop partnerships, oversee the admissions programme and set up operational systems before the first cohort of year 12 pupils arrives in September 2017. The salary package, which will be attractive, will be negotiated at the time of the appointment.

Post details are available from the School's website: www.laet.org.uk

Closing date for applications: 8am on Monday 6 June 2016.

LAET is committed to safeguarding young people, and applicants undergo child protection screening, including checks with past employers and the DBS
