The Board of Governors of the Royal Grammar School Guildford Qatar and of the Royal Grammar School, Guildford wish to appoint a Principal to succeed Mr Alistair Downs, the Founding Headmaster. Applications for the post are invited now for commencement in August 2020.

The Royal Grammar School Guildford Qatar opened in September 2016 and has quickly established its Pre-prep and Prep Schools for pupils up to Year 6, and it now needs to meet the demand for places in a Senior School. The building of the Senior School, on the same campus as the other schools, will be complete by September 2020. This is when the first cohort of GCSE pupils will enter Year 10.

The Principal will oversee the Pre-prep and Prep Schools, which have their own leadership structures, and will run the Senior School. The opportunity to establish and develop the identity of the Senior School is a unique one, and so the Governors of the Royal Grammar School Guildford Qatar will appoint somebody with ambition for the school’s success; somebody with the knowledge, determination, resilience and adaptability to ensure that the vision for the school is fulfilled. The ideal candidate will have experience of setting up a school; of the British curriculum (GCSE and A Level); of working in the Middle East; and experience of leadership and management at a senior level.
