About Astrea Academy Trust

Astrea are an inclusive, all-through Trust that was established to tackle historic educational disadvantage and to play our part in the social regeneration of the areas in which we work.

Whilst the Trust has the highest expectations of pupil attainment in national assessments, our aspirations take us beyond the concept of “schooling” to one of Inspiring Beyond Measure. In short, Astrea educates, rather than schools and we hold this at the very heart of everything we do.

We believe it is a true privilege to be able to make a real difference in the lives and life chances of school children and if you feel the same way, then this appointment provides a wonderful opportunity for the right person to be part of this exciting and challenging mission.

Waverley Primary Academy

Waverley Primary Academy is a Primary Academy based in Balby in Doncaster. It serves approximately 200 children between the ages of 3 and 11.

At Waverley Primary Academy, children are at the heart of everything. Pupils are taught academic knowledge and skills as well as developing the whole child, in order to prepare pupils for their next stage of education and to enable them to lead active and happy lives. The values of Resilience, Empathy, Aspiration, Contribution and Happiness run through all parts of school life and create a calm, happy and hardworking atmosphere with a strong commitment to all pupils achieving their full potential, regardless of their starting points.

The Role

The Principal shall carry out the professional duties as described in the Academy Teachers Pay and Conditions Document and would be expected to have considered these in relation to Waverley Academy.

The Principal is accountable to the Executive Director of Education and CEO for ensuring the educational success of their academy within the framework of their individual academies’ strategic plans. They provide professional leadership and management of their individual academy and must establish a culture that promotes excellence, equality and high expectations of all pupils, whilst contributing to the success of all children within the Astrea family.

As a leader you have:

  • The inspiration and ability to communicate effectively with all students, staff, and parents;
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills;
  • A demonstrable and successful track record of meeting high pupil achievement targets through excellent knowledge of assessment procedures and analysis of progress;
  • Passionate belief in high quality professional development for all staff;
  • A commitment to delivering an outstanding education through a focused and aspirational learning environment, empowering students and staff to realise their best both in the academic and broader educational sense.
