Job overview

Are you an enthusiastic and inspirational leader who has the skills, drive, and experience to take our school to the next stage of its development?

If so, Dorset Studio School would like to hear from you.

Dorset Studio School is a dynamic school, with a diverse academic intake and we are fully committed to supporting every child to reach their full potential.  We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and inspirational leader with the skills to lead the school through to the next stage of its development.

We are fortunate to be based on a beautiful campus, alongside Kingston Maurward College, which provides high quality education for further education students. Dorset Studio School has a land and animal specialism and the exceptional facilities available across the site, enhance the learning experienced by our students.

As a small school we know our children and young people well. This enables us to provide an excellence pastoral programme that recognises everyone as an individual, whilst also expecting a collective approach to manners, behaviour and whole school ethos.

We are part of a government building programme and anticipate a brand new school building over the next three years. As a result of our good Ofsted inspections and unique educational offer we have become oversubscribed in some year groups, resulting in accommodation that is currently too small for the number of students on role. As a temporary measure we have opened a separate KS4 campus that operates as a split site. Although this comes with some operational draw backs it also provides our older students with a dedicated site that meets their needs as they prepare for their examinations and future destinations.

The successful candidate will bring significant expertise and experience from a relevant education setting and a proven track record of positive impact in a variety of leadership roles. You will have exceptional communications skills, allowing you to build strong relationships with pupils, staff, parents and those with local governance roles, as well as with key external stakeholders.

We have a fully committed and hardworking staff and we are looking for an experienced leader who can inspire them through motivational leadership and clear vision.

If you think you have the qualities necessary to take on this challenging but ultimately rewarding role and you believe in raising the aspiration and successfully changing the lives of our pupils, then we would love to hear from you.

Visits to the school can be arranged for the 25th,26th,27th February 2025 at selected times adn these can be arranged by emailing tracey.richards@dorsetstudioschool.co.uk or by telephone on 01305 443600.

Dorset Studio School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The school will require the successful candidate to provide satisfactory references and undertake an Enhanced Check with the Disclosure and Barring Service.

At Dorset Studio School we are committed to equality of opportunity for all. We welcome applications from everyone, regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, or sexual orientation. Fostering an inclusive and supportive environment where all contributions are valued.

Interviews will be held 18th & 19th March 2025
