Job overview

Do you have the highest expectations for every member of the school community?

Are you able to win hearts and minds with your inspirational vision for school improvement?

Are you passionate about high-quality teaching and learning?

Do you have the experience, skills, insights and determination to lead this school from good to outstanding?

Are you a values-driven leader who models integrity and a commitment to inclusion?

If you can answer yes to these five questions, we would love to hear from you.

We are seeking an exceptional individual to lead Queensbury Academy following the promotion of the current Principal to the headship of a Teaching School within the Central Bedfordshire local authority.

Over the past six years, Queensbury Academy has been transformed from a failing school in Special Measures to a popular, over-subscribed school of choice, which has been graded Good in two successive Ofsted inspections (2014 and 2017). The school has high aspirations but still faces challenges on its journey to Outstanding.

Queensbury’s most recent Ofsted inspection report (November 2017) recognised many of the school’s strengths and the new Principal will have the opportunity to lead a school where: “Staff are very committed to improving the life chances of all pupils and raising their aspirations. Senior leaders and governors are keen for pupils to be successful.”

Queensbury Academy is part of CfBT Schools Trust (CST), a family of 16 schools bound together by a commitment to inclusive education, collaborative working, evidence-based school improvement and high-quality CPD. CST is sponsored by Education Development Trust, a not-for-profit international education company that transforms lives by improving education around the world.

We are looking to appoint a Principal with a proven track record at either Principal or Deputy Principal level. The post holder will deliver inspirational and motivational leadership across the school to drive up standards during a period of considerable growth. As a senior leader in our multi-academy trust, the post-holder would be expected to embrace CST’s collaborative ethos and work closely with other schools across the Trust.

In addition to a competitive salary, we provide high-quality leadership coaching and professional development and the opportunity to play a key role in a rapidly improving and ambitious multi-academy trust. We would also consider a relocation package for the right candidate.

To discover more about this exciting opportunity, please contact Colin Sinclair, Secondary Education Director, on 07990 002791 or email colinsinclair@cfbt.com

Visits to the school are welcome and encouraged and will be scheduled for 3 and 4 December. Please contact Lucy Brown, PA to the Education Executive Team, via lbrown@cfbt.com to arrange a visit.

Queensbury Academy and CfBT Schools Trust are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All applicants must undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.
