The Principal will lead the teaching and school support team in the execution of professional duties and responsibilities to meet the financial, curriculum and operations requirements of the school.

Job Role & Responsibilities

Strategic planning & leadership

  • Develop and implement the strategic and operational plans of the school
  • Lead the strategic and operational development of the school
  • Develop and maintain the high quality image of the school in the community
  • Provide leadership to teachers in quality Early Childhood curriculum design, development and implementation of teaching that aligns with the EtonHouse Inquire Think Learn Curriculum Framework and the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) 
  • Determine and maintain discipline and the positive reinforcement of the EtonHouse teaching philosophy
  • Coach and support teachers to monitor, assess, document and maintain evaluation and assessment of children’s learning and development
  • Develop strategies to market and maintain the school’s student enrolment to maximise the school capacity
  • Select, coach and mentor teachers to maximise their professional relationship with parents, harmonious working relations with colleagues and teaching performance for the growth of students under their care
  • Represent the school to internal and external stakeholders; 


Compliance & standards

  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and accreditation standards at the school
  • Ensure the school’s operations and programme development aligns with the IB Standards and Practices to ensure on-going accreditation with the International Baccalaureate as an IB World School 
  • Plan, deliver and continually assess the school’s academic curriculum and its teaching & learning standards
  • Develop and maintain a positive school ethos
  • Ensure best practices and processes are in place that the school delivers a high quality of education. 


Operational Management

  • Carry out the day-to-day operations and management of the school
  • Ensure the school is maintained in a good condition, and maximise the facilities to provide an effective learning environment for students
  • Manage the budget, resources and facilities of the school
  • Support the marketing team in driving student enrolments
  • Establish and maintain positive and effective communication with parents and the school community
  • Lead the selection of teaching staff
  • Monitor and review teachers’ performance and standards
  • Oversee the relevance and quality of the academic, pastoral and after-school activities provided for the students
  • Maintain students’ records and teacher to student ratio as required by the Ministry
  • Organise school events to support cultural, festive events, racial harmony and green environment


Job Requirements

  • A Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood from a recognised University
  • 8-10 years of direct work experience in an International School as an Early Childhood Educator with at least 4 years in a leadership role
  • Extensive experience in leading, developing and/or teaching an inquiry play based early childhood curriculum
  • Prior experience in working in an IB Primary Years Programme accredited school is preferred
  • Prior experience with the Reggio Emilia learning approach is preferred. 
  • High EQ, mature, exemplary leadership and management skills are essential 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to be well organised, work under pressure whilst maintaining a positive approach to work and relationships with others
  • A high degree of organisational skills, decision making and use of initiative
  • The ability to motivate, support and encourage staff through a collaborative approach
  • Ability to oversee the pastoral welfare of students
  • International experience, especially in Asia, is highly valued
