The Catholic Schools Office, Diocese of Lismore seeks applications from outstanding and faith committed Catholic educational leaders for the position of Principal, McAuley Catholic College Grafton.  Applicants for the role of Principal will possess an informed, articulated and contemporary understanding of Catholic education.


Situated in the Northern Rivers region of NSW, McAuley Catholic College is a co-educational Catholic Secondary College with a modern campus in a rural setting on the outskirts of Grafton.  This location boasts the unique benefits of a rich and diverse rural setting and a true sense of community.


The regional city of Grafton is known as the event capital of the Northern rivers with many cultural and sporting events such as the Jacaranda Festival, the Bridge-to Bridge Ski Race and the July Racing Carnival. This, combined with the nearby rugged mountains, magnificent National Parks, rivers and waterways make Grafton and its surrounds a highly desirable and welcoming place to live.


Current enrolments are around 494 and there are approximately 44.5 FTE teaching staff and 16.45 FTE non-teaching staff.

Information for teachers from interstate  

If you are moving to NSW from another Australian state or territory, and you want to work as a teacher in NSW, you will be required to be accredited by the National Education Standards Authority (NESA). Each employer in NSW may have their own employment criteria and you should ensure you are aware of any specific requirements such as tertiary study in specific areas.


Already registered with another Australian teaching body?  

If you hold current full registration from another Australian teacher registration body, your registration may be recognised by NESA.  You will still need to apply for Provisional or Conditional Accreditation in NSW. You can then apply to have your interstate registration recognised through a process called Mutual Recognition.

About McAuley Catholic College, Grafton

McAuley Catholic College is a co-educational Catholic secondary school for Year 7- Year 12. Located in Grafton in Northern New South Wales, the college has a close relationship with the local parish. 

In 1990 the college was formed with the amalgamation of three local Catholic schools – St Mary’s College, Holy Spirit College and St Aloysius. Catholic faith and practices are important and central to the existence of the College.

Located on the outskirts of Grafton, the College campus offers excellent facilities for all subject areas including Science, Technology and Applied Studies as well as Performing and Visual Arts. In addition there are many opportunities for the students to excel in academic, cultural and sporting areas. All of these areas combined ensure that the College’s mission is lived out daily in the life of the school.

Curriculum

McAuley Catholic College students learn a Diocesan Religious Education curriculum based on and taught in accordance with the Board of Studies and Teaching and Educational Standards syllabuses for Secondary Education. The College encourages students to be confident, lifelong learners with technology being a critical component in 21st century learning. Students are required to use computer devices daily.

School ethos

The College was founded on the traditions of the Mercy Sisters and Marist Brothers since the late 1800’s, catering for students in the Clarence Valley. McAuley Catholic College focuses on educating and empowering each person to live by Gospel values of deep knowledge and understanding of Jesus Christ as well as the Mercy values of compassions, respect, justice and excellence.
