Founded in 2009, MIS is a K-12 private school which aspires to bring world-class education to the young generation of Myanmar.

MIS prepares students for the IGCSE, A Level Programme examinations with an emphasis upon research-based teaching pedagogy and a character-building programme of activities inspired by the school’s aims. This includes service learning initiatives, and a holistic approach to sport, music and the arts.

MIS is seeking an outstanding and inspirational expat Principal (High School Leader), whose passion, experience and commitment will transform the outcomes of our students. The successful candidate will have a fantastic opportunity to join this ambitious and developing international school by providing day to day leadership within the High School.

Requirements:

We are looking for an experienced, passionate and knowledgeable professional who will work proactively to ensure the best possible holistic learning experience for our students. Prior leadership experience, as well as experience of IGCSE and A Level is essential.

 Bachelor Degree in Education or Teaching subject from a recognized university.

 Recognised Teaching License or QTS

 Senior Management experience in an International School

●      Ability to work collaboratively, develop effective relationships and establish productive partnerships with all stakeholders

●      Knowledge and experience of up to date, context specific teaching and learning best practices and their underlying ethos

●      Experience of secondary school leadership demonstrating an understanding of how pastoral and academic roles work together, rather than in isolation

●      A passion for academic research, wider reading and how to use that research practically

●      Up-to-date knowledge of the UK National Curriculum, IGCSE and A Level courses

●      Knowledge and experience of strategic planning and timetabling

●      Knowledge of rigorous assessment models and their underlying ethos

●      Knowledge and experience of recruitment and staffing

●      Knowledge of, and interest in, policy development and implementation

Founded in 2009, Myanmar International School educates girls and boys aged between three and 18. It is an all-through, independent, mainstream school, with a sixth form. At the moment, there are around 300 children on the roll at the school and approximately 40 members of staff. It is based in Yankin, Yangon, in the Republic of the Union of Myanmar. The board of directors of Than Lwin Aye Yar Services Co. Ltd opened the school. The school crest is blue, white and red to represent most of the flags around the world.

Values and Vision

Myanmar International School’s curriculum is split into two categories. The primary stage is taught through the British National Curriculum. The secondary stage is taught through the Cambridge international curriculum. The curriculum is well-balanced and enriching for all of the pupils. Teachers and students are encouraged to work together, in a respectful manner, to reach outstanding academic results. The school views itself as a family and the children and parents who are a part of it are expected to be proud of the establishment they are getting an education from.

The school hopes to help all students develop the skills needed to work, live and evolve in the ever changing, modern world. Children are taught to be kind, tolerant and respectful of those in the diverse society they live in. Pupils are encouraged to have a positive outlook on their academic and personal life. The hope is for students to become life-long and enthusiastic learners.
