Responsibilities

We have an exciting and unique opportunity for a well-qualified, experienced and enthusiastic Early Years professional as PRINCIPAL for ESF lnternational Kindergarten, Tung Chung. This position commences in August 2018.
 

Main Accountabilities:
 

1. Leadership
• providing strategic direction for the kindergarten;
• developing the values and aims of the kindergarten;
• developing a kindergarten improvement plan with measurable success criteria which involves all stakeholders;
• professionally leads staff, parents and students of the kindergarten;
• ensuring the kindergarten environment is safe and implements effective child protection measures; and
• knowing and using world-wide educational research and practice to inform and enrich the kindergarten’s growth.
 

2. Development and Deployment of Staff
• selecting and appointing teaching/ non-teaching staff, within the framework of ESF’s recruitment strategy;
• exercising creative, effective and efficient deployment of staff to maximise benefits for students;
• developing an appropriate framework of professional development and performance management for staff; and
• providing information and discussing issues of staff development and performance with the ESF Education Advisor.
 

3. Curriculum leadership
• Providing curriculum leadership which matches the aims, values and vision of the ESL kindergartens and the Foundation;
• taking a leading role in the leadership of ICT in developing young learners;
• providing a broad and balanced curriculum which is relevant to the needs of Hong Kong learners; and
• informing parents of the curriculum and its rationale.
 

4. Standards
• translating the aims and values of the kindergarten into high standards;
• creating an ethos of high expectations and challenge for all;
• monitoring standards of achievement, setting and achieving realistic and aspirational targets;
• using ESF/kindergarten-wide systems for tracking students’ performance to provide suitable early interventions to maximise students’ progress;
• enabling parents to know how their child is developing and what they need to do to maximise their potential; and
• facilitating effective liaison with cross-phase partners to ensure students’ progression and smooth transition.
 

6. Management and Efficiency
• developing and sustaining systems for the smooth running of the kindergarten, to enable kindergarten staff to focus on educational priorities;
• overseeing the monitoring and evaluation of all aspects of the kindergarten’s performance and reporting the outcomes as appropriate;
• efficiently and effectively deploying resources to maximise value for money and to ensure accountability;
• being responsible for the security of the buildings and grounds of the kindergarten and ensuring that health and safety requirements are met;
• ensuring that admissions arrangements are efficient and compliant with Kindergarten policy;
• complying with the Foundation’s policy on equality of opportunity, ensuring that it is understood and practiced by all; and
• ensuring that the kindergarten is adequately staffed during school holidays.
 

Requirements

• Bachelor of Education, Early Years, is essential
• Teaching Qualification
• Evidence of higher study

• Senior management experience in a similarly sized kindergarten and/or Primary school
• Experiences in a range of different kindergartens and Primary schools, preferably in an overseas/international school
