Lae is the second largest centre in PNG. The school is to be formed by the amalgamation of two schools at the end of 2017. The new school will encompass Pre-Grade 12 across two campuses.

To provide high quality education for students from Early Childhood to Grade 12 by developing virtuous learners of strong character who are self-directing, behave ethically, communicate effectively, work collaboratively and who analyse and solve problems.

Lae International School (LIS) offers high quality education, from 18 months to Grade 12, with excellent facilities and resources. There is also a vocational TAFE college on site. The curriculum prepares students for national and international success. Our teachers are experienced professional educators.

LIS is owned and operated by the International Education Agency of PNG. The IEA is a not-for-profit organisation formed under an act of the PNG Parliament.
The IEA Board delegates local governance and management of the school to the Board of Governors and the School Principal.
 

As a member of the International Education Agency LIS is governed by the direction of the IEA Board of Management, which consists of representatives from the local School Board of Governors of the schools. The IEA Board has ultimate responsibility for the direction and management of LIS.
