Job overview
Here is that new, unique school leadership opportunity you have been waiting for. You'll be a leader of leaders in this large and growing school that is focused on learning for students with special educational needs. This is an exciting time to take the helm as the current Principal retires after more than two decades in the position, leaving the school in a very good position.
If you’ve had previous success as a proactive and collaborative leader, have outstanding people skills, can build successful stakeholder partnerships, place learners in the center of all decision making and continually strive for continued improvement, then keep reading!
Sommerville School in Auckland is the largest special school in New Zealand with 40 classrooms over 13 sites, including 11 in host schools and two more in development along with a rebuild project on the main campus site. This is not a job for the faint hearted. You will enjoy a challenge and see this as an opportunity to build on an existing skill set of successfully managing large projects in a school setting.
This Principal role is suitable for leaders with either special education or mainstream leadership experience. The critical factors for this role are that you keep better outcomes for your learners and their families central, while growing and developing great teachers and leaders.
