Job overview

St Cuthbert’s College is a highly regarded independent school in New Zealand with a leadership role in the sector. Christian, within the Presbyterian tradition, the College provides an outstanding education to more than 1400 girls (including 125 boarders) at its campus in Epsom, Auckland. The College has state-of-the-art facilities for Years 1 to 13 across three schools – Junior, Middle and Senior – as well as at Kahunui, its remote experiential learning campus in the Bay of Plenty.

The College motto, By Love Serve, and the College Compass underpin all aspects of the three schools – from the exceptional academic, sporting and cultural achievements of its students, to its personalised learning approach, the strong values programme, the talented and dedicated staff, and its responsive pastoral support network.

With Mrs Lynda Reid stepping down as Principal after 20 years of outstanding service, the College Trust Board invites applications from appropriately qualified and experienced candidates for the position of Principal.

The successful applicant will be a vibrant, innovative leader and educator focused on the continued development and operation of best practice approaches to continue St Cuthbert’s College’s reputation at the forefront of girls’ education.

This is a key appointment suited to an educational leader with a deep commitment to, and vision for, girls’ education.  The successful candidate will have the ability to think strategically and creatively about the future of education, and have the attributes to provide professional and collaborative leadership in an environment that fosters and creates success.

Korn Ferry is assisting the College Trust Board with this appointment process. Further information, including an e-booklet setting out the selection criteria, may be obtained from Aaron Wills on +64 4 460 4909 or at aaron.wills@kornferry.com

St Cuthbert’s is a highly regarded independent school in New Zealand with a leadership role in the sector. The College provides an outstanding education to more than 1400 girls (including 125 boarders) at its campus in Epsom, Auckland. St Cuthbert’s was founded more than 100 years ago under the benefaction of the Presbyterian Church. Today the College is non-denominational and the Christian ethic at the heart of our community life is our motto, By Love Serve.

There has always been a great emphasis on serving others at St Cuthbert’s. Behind the motto lies a focus on developing well-rounded girls who hold good values and can instil these into the wider community. A St Cuthbert’s girl is encouraged to share, respect the needs of others, accept different viewpoints and negotiate peacefully. She is also inspired to work hard and take time for spiritual reflection. The College prides itself on not only having strong values, but on adding them to the curriculum and helping students develop an ethical consciousness. Through our College-wide Values programme, girls learn to translate the motto into practical terms – providing help to worthy causes and fundraising for not-for-profi¬t organisations.

Our academic results speak for themselves. We consistently achieve top in New Zealand for pass results in NCEA, have the greatest number of NZQA scholarships awarded to any New Zealand school and our girls achieve perfect pass rates in the International Baccalaureate programme.

Outside the classroom our sports teams demonstrate great talent and a fair play attitude. We have a number of elite sportswomen in the College, who we take great pride in supporting as they compete at national and international levels. The College also supports a number of musical endeavours from classical to contemporary and our students excel in competition each year.
