Job overview

Do you like to be beside the seaside? Maybe the arts and culture are more your thing. Ormiston Cliff Park Academy is situated just a short walk from the beach at Gorleston-on-Sea in Great Yarmouth, yet only 25 miles from the city of Norwich which consistently appears on lists of the best places to live in the UK. We are looking for a principal to lead this vibrant and inclusive 11-16 school which holds a pivotal role at the heart of the community it serves. Relocation support may be available for the right applicant.

About the organisation:

This is an incredible opportunity for a successful leader with a proven track record of sustained school improvement to make a difference and join the Ormiston Academies Trust (OAT) family.  OAT is one of the largest not-for-profit MAT's in England with almost 5,000 staff and 30,000 students. We have been around since 2009 making us one of the longest established trusts. Our mission is to be the trust that makes the biggest difference both inside and outside the classroom.

Our vision is for all young people to have access to the highest academic, social and practical skills required to achieve their full potential, whether going on to study at a leading university or entering the world of work.

We are continuing to improve outcomes for our students despite being largely in areas of historic academic underachievement. Our expectations are high and we want the very best professional educators to join us to ensure the very best outcomes for our young people.

We are a values-led organisation, and it is our aim that we continually challenge ourselves to adhere to the spirit of our values which are:

Anyone can excel: you don’t have to be exceptionally bright or naturally gifted in order to excel at something. We know hard work, determination and perseverance pay off.

Enjoy the challenge: just because something might be hard, it doesn’t mean it can’t be fun. We know it’s okay to face setbacks too – they can make you stronger.

Share what is best: if you’ve done something or created something others would benefit from seeing or having, you should share it. We know our schools keep getting better when we all share what is best.

Be inclusive: every child and adult should respect and accept that difference is normal, that everyone should be welcomed and included.

About the job:

The overall purpose of the role is to develop and sustain exceptional educational provision which will transform the future life opportunities of all pupils at Cliff Park Ormiston Academy (CPOA).  This role reports into an established regional director who will provide support, challenge and guidance.  The successful candidate will work collaboratively with principals across the regional and whole trust networks to secure the very best outcomes for the students they serve. There is more information about CPOA in the attached recruitment pack and at Cliff Park Ormiston Academy (cliffparkoa.co.uk). We would welcome the opportunity to talk to you about the job and the school, and contact details can be found below under 'how to apply'.

About you:

You are an exceptional leader with a proven track record and experience of senior management as a principal, vice principal or similar. Naturally, you will be supportive of the aims of OAT and believe in our values, vision and mission.

You may not live in the area right now but please don't let this put you off talking to us. We may be  able to offer relocation support to the right applicant.

In return, we will offer you an extremely supportive working environment and commitment to your continued professional development. In addition to a competitive salary, the remuneration package offered includes excellent CPD opportunities, Private Health Insurance for you and your family and membership of the Teachers’ Pension Scheme.

How to apply:

Applications with supporting statements should be made through the link to the OAT Careers website.

Discussions about the role and the academy are strongly encouraged with the regional director, Aron Whiles. Please contact Aron directly by email to aron.whiles@ormistonacademies.co.uk or by phone on 07960 683590.

Interested applicants can also arrange a tour of the academy before Christmas by contacting the principal’s PA Jo Spurgeon on 01493 660212 or by email to jspurgeon@cliffparkoa.co.uk

“Leaders monitor carefully the quality of teachers’ work so that recommendations for pay awards are given close consideration by leaders and governors. Weaker practice is tackled early and is not allowed to continue. New and less experienced teachers, and learning support assistants, are provided with good guidance and support to develop their skills and improve pupils’ learning”.
