Job overview

Preston Hedge’s Primary School is an ambitious, innovative and fun two form entry school on the west of Northampton. The school currently has 421 pupils on roll who come from the school’s local community of Wootton Fields and Wootton Village.

The school has an excellent reputation, is very popular within its local community and is now seeking to recruit a new Principal. Despite the school already been designated as Ofsted outstanding, the school has huge potential and is seeking a Principal who is excited by that and can provide the exceptional leadership that will lead the school to even greater success in the future.

Preston Hedge’s Primary School was the founding member of the Preston Hedge’s Academy Trust. A Trust built and run by educational experts, working to improve the educational opportunities and standards for children in Northamptonshire, by establishing an outstanding provision, based on the ethos of ‘Fun, Creativity and Achievement’. ‘

High outcomes are achieved through rigorous systems, processes and a continuous learning approach. Key areas like writing and phonics at the school significantly outperform school’s nationally. The results are however, the outcome, not the starting point and are achieved through the school’s ethos of “Fun, Creativity and Achievement”. ‘Fun’ to create happy confident learners, ‘creativity’, to provide pupils with the very best curriculum experiences and foster imaginative, inventive learners; and ‘achievement’ to fulfil each child’s academic potential and ensure the highest outcomes for pupils. Pupils at Preston Hedge’s are confident, inquisitive learners who feel safe and are proud to be part of their school community.

The school is proud of its unique and innovative curriculum, which is driven by the Visual Arts, and provides the very best experiences and opportunities for pupils. Delivered by a committed and talented staff who actively embrace new approaches, practices and genuinely care about the success and well-being of the children. This commitment to excellence is reinforced by an engaged and supportive parent body.

Governors are seeking to appoint a new Principal who will build on the school’s many strengths and further enhance teaching and learning, so that every pupil makes the very best progress at all times. The school has a talented and committed team who are ready to work with the new Principal to support this drive and further develop their expertise. The new Principal will also ensure the school is outward facing, working collaboratively with the other schools within the Trust and organisations beyond, to embrace new approaches, best practice and to share the school’s expertise.

If you are an ambitious senior leader in a primary setting, with a successful track record, then this role offers an excellent opportunity to challenge yourself in a new environment. You must be committed to seeking and embracing inspiring approaches to teaching and learning and to working collaboratively to deliver a broad, innovative engaging curriculum.

Applicants should have the creativity and vision to inspire and lead change, but also the focus to ensure successful outcomes are reached. You must be confident and approachable, with an optimistic ‘can-do’ attitude and have the skills to build, lead and motivate effective teams and to be an effective team member.
