Principal

Our Potterspury Lodge School provides Day and 38 week placements for children and young adults with Asperger’s Syndrome and Complex Needs from ages 8-18 years old.  Our new Principal will play an instrumental role in developing this school into a 52 week provision.  We aim to teach self-management through the provision of a range of strategies that allow students to develop their strengths and manage their difficulties successfully. Staff work alongside students within an inclusive environment set up to allow young people with Asperger Syndrome to accept themselves, tolerate others, to build confidence and self-esteem and experience success as they begin to become successful and independent individuals.   Students have access to a personalised curriculum which extends throughout the waking day.

As a Principal in our school, you will be driving innovation and change, helping young people, children and staff reach their highest potential.

Ultimately, you’ll be making sure the children are the priority. This means you will need:

• A knowledge of funding bodies and current political agendas.
• An understanding of safeguarding and legislative procedures when working with children and vulnerable adults.
• A knowledge of recognised positive approaches to working with challenging behaviors associated with learning disabilities.
• The skills to use sound judgement to help you troubleshoot and problem-solve in difficult and complex situations.
• The motivation, dedication, and passion to achieve results through others.
• To remain calm and professional in all situations.
• Promote positive relationships with staff, students, parents, the local community and outside agencies.

• Developing and maintaining a culture that identifies and celebrates success.
• Helping our school to provide the highest quality of education and support.
• Having a recognition that each student is different, and they need individual plans to thrive.
• Setting the direction of the school, and to drive it forward both operationally and commercially
• Creating a space for not only the students, but the staff to thrive and grow.
• Forming professional connections, specifically with our stakeholders.
• Keeping our building and sites in tip-top condition by using our network of contractors.
