Job overview

“To lead change and transform opportunities for children”

Our Academy, Exeter – a learning community, is a three form entry 2 – 11 Academy with c600 children, located in an area of social disadvantage, close to Corby Town Centre, on the Exeter estate. A recent Ofsted placed us in Special Measures. We are looking to appoint an inspirational and visionary individual who can lead us through a period of change, significantly improve learning and transform opportunities for our children.

You will not need to work alone. There is a committed, hard-working staff team. We also have the support of our sponsor, the Woodnewton Academy Trust which has an outstanding reputation. A comprehensive Trust-wide support team has back office specialists in finance, HR and IT alongside a team with skills and expertise to support children with specific needs – autism, dyslexia, speech and language therapy.

Our aim, across the Trust, is to build communities of pro-social, emotionally competent, independent learners and this philosophy underpins our ethos and values. Continuing professional development is at the heart of this and practitioner research is highly valued. The Trust is also a Theraplay partner.

The Academy has a nursery which Ofsted recognised as good. We also have a very successful Nurture Group. We need to build on what is good and change what is not. With the right Academy leader, we are confident that we can be an exceptional place of learning - our children deserve nothing less.

Exeter – a learning community is an equal opportunities employer. The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This post requires an enhanced DBS check.
