Start date 1 September 2019.  Contract term: Permanent

The Hathershaw College is a very successful (OFSTED graded ‘good’) and oversubscribed, mixed 11-16 school in Oldham.  Currently self-assessing as Outstanding, the school has achieved significantly above average Progress 8 scores over the last three years, with a 2018 score of +0.5, placing it in the top 20% of all schools nationally.

Hathershaw was a founding partner in the Pinnacle Learning Trust, established in partnership with Oldham Sixth Form College in September 2017. The Trust now also includes Werneth Primary School and leads the Advantage Teaching School, supporting school improvement across the town and beyond.

Owing to the planned early retirement of the current Principal in August 2019, the Trust is seeking to appoint a new Principal to lead the school and work with the Trust in continuing to inspire, support and challenge staff and pupils to achieve highly.  The growth and development of the Trust make this an exciting time to join us, and the new Principal will have opportunities to play a strategic role beyond the school.

Working with the Executive Principal and a strong Senior Leadership Team, the Principal will be expected to lead all aspects of the school, ensuring that The Hathershaw College continues to achieve high standards and seek continuous improvement in all aspects of its work. Trustees are seeking a leader who is passionate and unwavering in their commitment to improving life chances for all pupils.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

• Successful senior leadership experience within a secondary educational setting

• An individual with integrity, who inspires and influences others, and has a passionate belief in the value of education

• Someone with a clear understanding of the school’s vision and values in the context of the Pinnacle Learning Trust and the broader context

• A commitment to supporting and leading developments both in the school and across the Trust

• A commitment to collaboration, professional development and working with a wide range of partners to achieve the best possible outcomes for pupils
