This is an extremely exciting opportunity to lead one of our largest academies, recently judged ‘good’ by Ofsted and with ambitions to achieve even more. We're seeking a Principal who will raise standards further, grow and develop leadership capacity and support the community in realising their high expectations.

We’re looking for a Principal who:

  • has the drive and passion to ensure significant improvements in the performance of all pupils;
  • has an effective management style to encourage innovation and confidence amongst staff;
  • has strong organisational skills and a relentless pursuit to instil strategies to improve behaviour and raise standards;
  • has significant experience of managing others and the ability to be able to set clear goals for staff performance;
  • has excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • has vision, passion and a proven record in school improvement and an enthusiasm for teaching;
  • has high values and expectations of achievement and behaviour;
  • has great teamwork and leadership skills;
  • values the contribution of parents and the wider community;
  • is a team player who can lead and support work across our Trust.

The new Stanground Academy opened on 1 April 2012 and is one of the Greenwood Academies Trust’s Group of Academies, replacing the predecessor Stanground College. The Academy has since undergone a £24M building project and now boasts state of the art” buildings providing academic, vocational and sports facilities for pupils and staff.  These include fully-equipped specialist rooms, extensive sports facilities, a dance studio, a theatre and high tech ICT equipment.

The Academy hosts an ambitious and dynamic environment with a shared vision to create an outstanding Academy which the local community both needs and deserves.  They aspire to ensure that every student reaches their full potential irrespective of their starting point by providing exceptional learning opportunities both in the classroom and through an extensive programme of extra-curricular activities.  The Academy, offers a positive team ethos within a supportive and friendly working environment. The excellent rail and road links to the city ensure that it is easily accessible to the highly desirable towns and beautiful villages in rural areas located close to Peterborough. Peterborough is connected by rail with the nearby towns of Stamford, Grantham, Ely, and Huntingdon along with direct connections to some of the largest cities in the regions such as Cambridge and London.  London is just a mere forty-five minutes away by train!
