Established in 1888, Townsville Grammar School is a thriving school which achieves strong academic outcomes and offers an excellent rounded liberal education. The School motto Bonus Intra Melior Exi, "come in good and go out better", reflects the philosophy and values of the School.

A co-educational non-denominational day and boarding School, there are 1,500 students across three campuses from Pre-Kindergarten to Year 12. The International Baccalaureate is offered in addition to the Queensland curriculum.

With the retirement of the current Principal, Richard Fairley, after twenty years’ of outstanding leadership, the Board of Trustees is looking to appoint a successor who will continue the focus on exceptional teaching and learning, ensuring that each child achieves their best. The next Principal will also bring the leadership and management expertise to ensure the ongoing sustainability of the School.

About Townsville Grammar School

Townsville Grammar School is a co-educational, non-denominational, independent school that serves students between 3 and 18 years of age. The school is located in Townsville, Northern Queensland and has over 1300 students currently enrolled.

Established in 1888, Townsville Grammar School is the oldest secondary school in North Queensland and as the years have passed, has increased from one campus to three.

Facilities

The school has a range of facilities including a gymnasium and swimming pool, however the most significant facility on the campus is the boarding house. Here boarders have access to areas including a kitchen, dining room, health centre and semi-private areas for both sleeping and studying.

Curriculum

Townsville Grammar School follows the Queensland curriculum. However, students in Years 11 and 12 are also given the opportunity to undertake the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, an internationally recognised pre-tertiary qualification. The school has a junior, middle and senior school structure and programmes are tailored to the students and families within the grammar community. Additionally, Townsville Grammar School offers a broad range of co-curricular activities in areas including debating, chess, music, sport and community service.
