We have an incredible opportunity for an inspirational and determined leader to join the Astrea Academy Trust as the Principal for Byron Wood Academy which serves approximately 450 students between the ages of 4 and 11. Situated in the heart of an area of rich cultural and social diversity in the Burngreave area of Sheffield, Byron Wood offers a wonderful opportunity for any current or aspiring Principal to create an academy that is more than just an academy but a hub of innovation and creativity that inspires tomorrow’s generation.
Byron Wood is a very happy and popular academy that recognises and celebrates diversity. With twenty-six different languages spoken throughout the academy and high levels of mobility, it is vital that Byron Wood continues to establish strong partnerships with parents and carers in order to help build an inclusive environment where children can participate, thrive, reach their full potential and are proud of their achievements.
The academy will also benefit from a brand new building ready by Sept 2019; this is an incredibly exciting opportunity for a new Principal to be part of the design and build of an innovative school building fit to ‘inspire beyond measure’.
Working with our CEO and Executive Director of Education, the Principal will be responsible for ensuring the educational success of the academy and promoting the academy vision of enabling all students to achieve their potential, to challenge and to express their creativity. They will provide professional leadership and management and must establish a culture that promotes excellence, equality and high expectations of all pupils.

· can demonstrate substantial and proven leadership skills in a Primary setting
· has experience in successful school improvement strategies and development of teaching & learning
· is able to communicate with, motivate and inspire staff
· has a passion for securing the highest possible levels of attainment and achievement for all pupils, whatever their needs, abilities and circumstance
· has experience in performance management, rigorous tracking and data analysis
· is willing to make a significant commitment to the school and its future
· is resilient and an exceptional classroom practitioner
· has a desire to play an active part in the strategic development of the academy and the Trust
