Job overview

Newlands Academy is a new purpose-built special academy for students who have social, emotional and mental health needs and is part of Academies Enterprise Trust network of 67 primary, special and secondary academies.

We have 5 special academies based in Essex, London, Gloucestershire and Surrey and thirteen specialist provisions attached to our mainstream academies. All of our special academies are rated 'Good' and 'Outstanding' by Ofsted.

We are now looking for an inspirational leader who will take Newlands Academy on the next stage of its journey. The successful applicant will build on our successes, maintain and strengthen our outcomes for students.

Are you: -

  • A strong strategic leader who will take the academy forward onto the next stage of its development?
  • Passionate and ambitious about special school provision and achieving the best for young people?
  • Able to be an exceptional individual who demonstrates compassion and energy and excellent leadership in a complex and changing environment?
  • Able to demonstrate a solid and proven track record in raising standards and improving school effectiveness?
  • Someone who is dedicated to inclusion at every level?

In return, we offer an exciting opportunity to lead our academy, where you will be able to shape and influence the outcomes for a group of exceptional young people.

Our new Principal will enjoy the autonomy of headship whilst working in partnership with the regional cluster of academies and our regional director of education, with support from a committed local governing body.

Visits to the academy are warmly encouraged and can be arranged by contacting Marilyn Tweedy on 020 7639 2541 or mtweedie@newlandsacademy.org.

Closing date: Monday 16 May 2016
Interviews: Monday 23, Tuesday 24 and Thursday 26 May 2016

For an informal discussion or for an application form contact Tanya Bentham on 0845 453 0088 or email recruitment@academiesenterprisetrust.org.

We are committed to safeguarding and protecting the welfare of children and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. A Disclosure and Barring Service Certificate will be required for all posts. This post will be subject to enhance checks as part of our Prevent duty.
