Requirements

You will be GTCS Registered (Primary), with a knowledge of the relevant curriculum area and an awareness of the main current issues in Scottish education.

Responsibilities

The Principal Teacher is responsible to the Head Teacher and is expected to assist the Head Teacher in managing and leading the school. The Principal Teacher will have weekly teaching commitments - either as the main teacher of a class, or as part of a weekly timetabled commitment to teach the class(es) of one or more colleagues.

The Individual

You will demonstrate application and knowledge of Curriculum for Excellence as well as the new National Qualifications structure and evidence of appropriate Professional Learning. In addition you will have a positive and caring approach and commitment to young people, have good communication/ interpersonal skills and relate well to others.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check, prior to a formal offer of employment being made by Dundee City Council.
