Job overview

We are looking to appoint a new Principal to Harris Academy Chafford Hundred. We are particularly interested to hear from existing principals and headteachers, as well as experienced deputy headteachers and vice principals, who feel they have the leadership qualities, drive, ambition and proven track record of successful school leadership to lead our academy to further success. With the opportunity to experience the support and network offered by the Harris Federation, this post would suit an experienced principal looking for the next challenge and wanting to join a highly supportive Federation.

About Harris Academy Chafford Hundred

Harris Academy Chafford Hundred is a co-educational 11-18 Academy with 1400 students, which joined the Harris Federation in September 2011. The Academy was judged Outstanding by Ofsted in 2011. Harris Academy Chafford Hundred has a distinctive ethos, a “School for the Future” with high aspirations and relentless ambition at the very heart of our work.  We are a forward-thinking educational institution, serving Chafford Hundred, South Stifford and the surrounding catchment area.

Chafford Hundred was recently designated a Teaching School Hub, one of the first in the country. This exciting development means that we have the opportunity to support other schools and to lead on professional development in our hub area. We work closely with the Harris Leadership College to offer opportunities to the academies in our Federation. Furthermore, we collaborate with the Harris academies in our local area. The new Principal would play a major role in the leadership of the Teaching School Hub.

Your opportunity

Whether you are an experienced principal, or preparing for your first principalship, we can equip you with the experience, knowledge and training to achieve your next career goal. As part of Harris, you will have the opportunity to work within a close network of academies, and with principals from across the wider Federation. We have a highly experienced central team of subject consultants, all committed to providing support and developing your skills as a leader. As part of a rewarding environment and highly supportive Federation, we can provide Principals with all the support needed. We offer unrivalled progression opportunities to Executive Principalship, and the option to support you through our National Professional Qualification for Executive Leadership (NPQEL) programme. The course draws on the leadership expertise of Harris executive leaders and Directors as well as other successful MATs from across the country.

Next Steps

Informal and exploratory conversations are welcomed, but a visit to the academy may not be possible during this time. Please download the job pack for a full job description and person specification.

To discuss the post in confidence with Nicola Graham, Assistant Director, please contact Debbie Swallow, PA, to arrange a date and time D.Swallow@harrischaffordhundred.org.uk. You can contact the academy on 01375 484580.
