A unique career opportunity arises for an exceptional individual to lead the development of a prestigious, expanding international school for students aged 3-18. The British International School of Tunis offers exceptional British education, promoting academic excellence and providing a wide ranging curriculum to ensure the development of the whole child.
We have begun to expand into the Secondary sector and are now looking for a Principal to manage the Primary school, to lead and develop the expansion of the Secondary school, and ultimately to lead both the primary and secondary schools.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of outstanding school leadership and the ambition and capabilities to establish the school as one of the best international schools in the region.

The principal will be resilient, have the ability to manage change and will have the vision and energy to inspire and guide others from different cultures.
She or he will be able to think strategically and adapt the strategy to suit changing circumstances whilst safeguarding the core values and objectives of the school.

The British international School of Tunis

The Early Years and Primary departments of the British International School of Tunis (BIST) were established in 2012 with the aim of providing quality, caring education for young children. The framework of the school is based on the UK National Curriculum, with additional language requirements (French and Arabic). The school currently operates from Nursery to Year 7, and has developed an enviable reputation for encouraging students to be creative, problem solvers and independent thinkers with high expectations for academic achievement.  BIST is a member of the Council of Britisih International Schools (COBIS)
The school embraces everything that is good about prestigious British schools and the UK curriculum and espouses an international viewpoint with a Tunisian touch. This distinctive blend aims to ensure that all students are able to excel academically and develop as well-rounded young people prepared to accept their role in an ever-changing global society.
The Principal will be a crucial member of the school's development team, working closely with both the governing body and the investors, as BIST expands into the Secondary sector.  For the forthcoming school year, KS3 teaching will be moving to a new building, and over the following few years the principal will take the lead in developing and implementing a new-build school on a new site.

Our Principal will be someone who:

  • in collaboration with the stakeholders, can articulate a clear vision and translate the vision into a reality;
  • has an outstanding and proven track record of successful school leadership;
  • has successful teaching experience that illustrates a commitment to academic progress and the well-being of all students;
  • understands how students learn best and how they can achieve their full potential;
  • has excellent coaching skills that will ensure professional growth and development throughout the school;
  • is experienced in successfully leading and managing multi-cultural staff towards a common goal;
  • can quickly establish strong and positive relationships with parents, future families and the community as a whole;
  • has a proven track record of successfully leading the financial and business management of a school;
  • can demonstrate successful collaboration with governing bodies and others;
  • is a native English speaker, but also able to speak French or Arabic;
  • is engaging, possesses excellent communication skills and has strong emotional intelligence, unafraid to manage challenges.
