Job overview

We are working with St Francis Catholic and Church of England Primary School in Ventnor, Isle of Wight, to appoint their Principal for September 2017. The school is seeking to appoint a visionary, passionate and resilient Principal, who understands rapid school improvement, and a passion to develop the whole child through Christian gospel values of love, hope, peace and justice.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a Primary School who are currently transitioning to Academy status, in a joint denominational school, with Catholic and Church of England values. As the heart of the local community, the school are currently undergoing a journey of rapid school improvement, following an Inadequate Ofsted in January 2016.

The staff are passionate about delivering this improvement, and with the right Principal the school offers wonderful facilities, supportive Governors, excellent support from the Catholic and Church of England Dioceses, dedicated staff and children. The school itself is in a new building, set within an area of outstanding natural beauty with views of the National Trust land, and close to the coast, offering a wonderful experience to the children of Ventnor in their educational journey.

Based on the Isle of Wight, the location of the school has lots to offer, for either those planning on relocating to the Island, or those who will live there through the working week:

  • Renowned as one of the places in England with the highest number of sunny days each year.
  • The sandy beaches are counted amongst the best 50 in the world.
  • Great restaurants and local pubs.
  • Annual festivals of art and music.
  • Water sports galore! Including international yachting events, surfing, windsurfing and water skiing.

We would urge candidates to visit St Francis Catholic and Church of England Primary School, prior to an application, so that we can answer any questions you may have, and that you can engage with the ethos, and understand the vision moving forwards.

If you would like further information, a confidential conversation or to arrange a visit to the school, please contact Robert Cattermole on 07825 346535 or 01223 907971.

All applications to be sent to Robert Cattermole no later than 12-noon on Monday 20th March 2017.

This Governing Body and Academy Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
