United Learning is a large, and growing, group of schools aiming to offer a life changing education to children and young people across England.

United Learning schools work as a team and achieve more by sharing than any single school could. The subject specialists, Group-wide intranet, own curriculum, and online learning portal all help us share knowledge and resource, helping to simplify work processes and manage workloads for an improved work-life balance.

As a Group, we can reward our staff better: with good career opportunities, better pay, benefits, and ultimately, the satisfaction of helping children to succeed. We invest in our staff wellbeing. Our academies each have at least eight INSET days per year (with three of those solely dedicated to planning), and an ongoing group-wide wellbeing programme. It's an ethos we call ‘the best in everyone’.

We are working hard to become a more diverse organisation – which is key to our commitment to bringing out the best in everyone. We welcome applications from everyone committed to this ethos and would particularly welcome applications from black and minority ethnic candidates, who are currently under-represented in the Group as a whole. We always appoint on merit. We are open to discussing flexible working options.

United Learning is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All positions are subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring check from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and shortlisted candidates will be subject to an online check.

Here at United Learning, we are committed to ensuring our employees feel valued and appreciated. Because we are a group, we can reward you better than any school could alone, and this includes your employee benefits. Here is some information about the benefits available to United Learning School Support Staff and Teaching Staff and Central Office Staff .

Job description

Nestled in the heart of Waltham Forest on the Chingford Hall Estate, Salisbury Manor Primary School is a cornerstone of the community, with a steadfast commitment to nurturing these community bonds.

Following a successful Ofsted inspection in September 2023, the school has been recognised as ‘Good’ overall, with an ‘Outstanding’ rating in Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). This achievement is a testament to our ongoing dedication and upward trajectory.

Salisbury Manor Primary School is a beacon of potential, bolstered by a team of devoted staff who tirelessly strive for the best outcomes for our pupils and their families. The role of Principal at our school presents a truly rewarding opportunity to lead and further enhance our growth and development.

We envisage that the successful candidate will bring a positive impact to the school’s culture and values, propelling student outcomes to new heights. Our ultimate goal is to realise substantial and sustainable improvements under the leadership of a Principal who is wholeheartedly committed to the long-term success of Salisbury Manor Primary School’s pupils and community.

The successful candidate will become part of a network of fellow Principals, both within our wider group and locally. Salisbury Manor Primary School is a proud member of our East London Primary Cluster, which includes four other local schools: Walthamstow Primary Academy, Whittingham Primary Academy, Longshaw Academy, and Winston Way Academy. This collaborative environment cultivates a sense of unity and shared purpose, enriching the educational experience we provide.

Within this cluster, the new Principal will benefit from the shared expertise of Regional Director, Executive Business Manager, HR Business Partner & Finance Business Partner, alongside fantastic support and resources from the Central team. In addition, the successful candidate will receive high level support from United Learning’s highly effective team of subject advisers alongside our knowledge-rich mastery curriculum which includes a package of

common assessments, enabling school leaders to gain a deeper understanding of their students by comparing performance against the thousands of students in other United Learning schools.

We are looking for a leader that is aligned to the United Learning Way, which outlines the guiding educational principles of our Trust.
