Job overview
Principal – Oasis Academy Johanna
Why might you be interested:
With the vibrant Oasis Community Hub, Farm and Secondary school (Oasis Southbank) no more than a wayward playground tennis ball’s distance away from our ‘oasis’ of education in the centre of Waterloo – you will have a unique combination of learning tools and experiences at your disposal.
Look and think beyond the immediate opportunities for immersive learning WITHIN OA Johanna, and you and your teaching and support staff can access the charm, intrigue and never-ending bustle that London can offer eager, curious young minds. Museums, galleries, theatres, ancient sea going vessels, the epi-centre of national government, parks, commercial centres and much more. Few locations offer such a rich canvas of educational inspiration, and even fewer entities provide the support, guidance, personal development and ideation encouragement that you will get as standard with Oasis.
We’ve been in education long enough to know leading a school is a very challenging job requiring resilience and flexibility, but with all that Oasis has to offer and an imaginative, open-minded educator at the helm we KNOW we can change lives and communities for the better. The combination of regional support and collaboration, an extensive CPD offer and full access to the National Institute of Teaching offers all our employees great career opportunities with leadership pathways. If this sounds like a journey you would like to lead – we would love to hear from you.
A bit more about OA Johanna:
Currently Ofsted rated ‘Good’ (with ‘Outstanding’ features) we know OA Johanna has the potential to be ‘Outstanding’ with a strong leader that shares our vision to be truly inclusive. A leader with a shared ambition to give everyone within the community we serve, regardless of background, circumstance or label, the opportunity to thrive and achieve their potential. Particularly within the fields of music and creative arts.
Located just 2 minutes from Waterloo station OA Johanna is a fully inclusive one-form entry that admits children aged 3-11 for Nursery and Primary phase with a well-resourced Local Authority funded SEND base for up to 15 additional children. And as a feeder for the Ofsted rated ‘Outstanding’ OA Southbank just 3 minutes around the corner we can genuinely offer long-term, sustainable educational advantage for all our children.
Our established and experienced staff continually inspire our diverse, multi-lingual (32 languages spoken) children through caring, engaging and fun learning techniques and your leadership will continue to drive and further evolve this style of teaching. Our fully resourced curriculum has digital innovation at its heart, evidenced by every pupil and teacher having an iPad and fully supported IT infrastructure.
What we look for:
Beyond the expected strategic and leadership qualities of a senior educator and expertise in curriculum design and implementation, we are looking for an outward facing, community minded collaborator who is a natural relationship builder.
You may already be an experienced Headteacher/Principal, or you may be a Deputy Headteacher/Principal who has experience of stepping up and delivering and are looking for that next stand-out career move.
Either way – if your ‘same old’ Principal role with all the challenges and responsibilities that entails isn’t quite the motivation you are seeking – consider the contribution you will make within a family of 54 Academies all sharing best practice. A family of diverse businesses all aligned on a mission to make a difference within and beyond the school gates. A unique set up with an ethos that binds us together into a powerful transformative community force.
Now you are inspired - Next steps:

As you would expect, we are committed to the safeguarding of our students through our recruitment and school practices; all jobs are subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check. The Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) helps employers make safer recruitment decisions and prevent unsuitable people from working with vulnerable groups, including children.
This post is covered by Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016); therefore, the ability to speak fluent spoken English is an essential requirement for this role.
