Job overview

Do you have the vision, passion and rigour to lead one of London’s most high-profile All-Through schools?

Ark Burlington Danes Academy is a Church of England non-selective, all-through comprehensive school.  It has been educating London’s children for over 300 years. In September 2006, it became the first school to join the Ark Network and has made rapid progress to become a highly successful and over-subscribed local school.

We are now looking for an exceptional and inspiring Principal to lead Ark Burlington Danes Academy through the next chapter in its history. The new leader will enter a well-established and high profile school with much to be proud of and celebrate, but we will not stop there as there is always more to do and achieve.

We are committed to delivering an outstanding education within an outstanding environment where each child, individually, is able to achieve the highest possible academic outcomes. This sense of scholarship underpins all that we do. As we are a Christian community, Ark Burlington Danes Academy ensures each student feels valued and unique.

Joining Ark Burlington Danes Academy means you’ll continue the great progress the school has made, while helping to make Ark one of the strongest academy networks in the UK.

Ideal candidates will:

  • Have a very clear understanding of what makes an exceptional school and the skills and character required to develop this (rigorous planning, high expectations, great CPD, strong leadership, honesty, kindness, passion, commitment and resilience).
  • Be a great teacher themselves.  As a leader of teaching, we are looking for someone who really knows what great learning looks like in the classroom and how to achieve it.
  • Be fully aligned with Ark’s values and six pillars
  • Be excited by, and committed to, supporting practices that will drive great progress in the Ark London area and across the wider network of Ark schools

In return, you will work with an experienced SLT and will be given the opportunity to broaden and develop your skills. We are committed to providing staff with high-quality and regular CPD.

We know that great schools need great senior leaders, which is why we are always keen to hear from people who share our belief that an excellent education is central to transforming lives.

Curriculum

We believe that everyone deserves to be accepted, included and empowered to live a life that is purposeful and fulfilling. Our curriculum is a key driver of this vision and our Christian ethos. We place the curriculum at the heart of school life. It drives all other decisions that we make and is the best means we have of demonstrating as a school what we believe in and what we stand for. Our curriculum is a broad, balanced and equitable offer; built around the core disciplines of English, mathematics, science, humanities, languages and religious education. All subject areas prepare pupils for future study within their discipline, with mastery of core and foundation subjects ensuring pupils have choice later on in their education; as they specialise in key areas of study.  The curriculum in each subject area has been designed backwards from university study, through A-Level, GCSE, and into the Primary and Early Years phase to ensure students can reach their fullest potential.
