We have an opportunity to join the science team in the Faculty of Maths and Science. The faculty was awarded grade 1 in the Ofsted inspection in 2014 and is internally assessed as grade 1. We deliver a range of maths and science courses at levels two and three and boast excellent value added and success rates. In the sciences we deliver AS and A levels in biology, chemistry, physics, computer science, geology and environmental science. We also deliver relevant elements of the IB, Access to HE (Healthcare and Science routes) and BTEC Extended Diploma in Applied Science. This role is particularly to teach Environmental Science although contributing to other courses, particularly geology is also possible. The successful applicant would also be a personal tutor to a group of A level students. The faculty is based in new purpose-built facilities in the Maths and Science Centre.
The Environmental Science team is experienced, supportive and has a strong commitment to sharing ideas and resources. You will be mentored and supported by the Team Leader for Environmental Science (also a senior examiner for AQA) and working alongside another experienced geology/environmental science lecturer. The Programme Leader aspect of the role involves taking responsibility for an element of the work of the team, for example updating SoW and assignments for specific elements of AS, A2 or IB, but overall responsibility sits with the Team Leader. You will also have a faculty-based Learning Lead and the support of a Lead Tutor for pastoral elements of the role. Hence this role could be suitable for someone newly qualified or someone wishing to broaden their experience.
We are seeking to appoint the candidate with the greatest ability, enthusiasm and commitment to excellence in the classroom. If you fit the bill and teach environmental science, your application will be welcome!
Successful applicants will be required to undertake an enhanced disclosure by the DBS.
We do not accept CV’s, no agencies please.
