Each member of our Politics team is expected to contribute to the production of teaching resources and fully participate in the work of the department.

We are a welcoming and enthusiastic department that looks to support students of all abilities to achieve their potential. Colleagues collaborate with other programmes to organise day trips to local party-political conferences and Westminster as well as residential trips to Edinburgh, the USA and Russia. The weekly Politics Society has been running for 25 years inviting a wide range of speakers to college to engage with students on a wide range of issues from our local MPs, pressure groups and university lecturers. We have good links with our two local universities and are looking to foster these further.

To be successful, you will have:

  • a relevant degree and recognised teaching qualification/qualified teacher status
  • detailed knowledge of the curriculum
  • proven ability to plan and prepare courses and lessons
  • the ability to adopt a variety of strategies to suit students’ different learning styles
  • successful teaching experience or teaching practice in the subject in the 14-19 sector or post 16.
